Channel of the Voice - Workshop

An embodied exploration of voice through breath, body, and sound

An ongoing exploration of voice as a channel — where body, breath, and sound meet.

About the workshop

Channel of the Voice is an immersive weekend workshop exploring the body as a resonant instrument for voice. Through somatic practices, breath work, and vocal exploration, participants are invited to deepen their relationship to voice beyond technique — into sensation, structure, and embodied experience.

This work approaches voice as an integrated system where breath, body, and emotion are intimately connected. By working with the physical structures that shape sound, participants can access greater freedom, range, and authenticity in their expression.

The workshop is a condensed, intensive version of the longer Embodied Voice Practices course, offering both practical tools and direct experiential insight.

Who this workshop is for

This workshop may resonate with you if you are:

  • interested in developing a deeper, body-based relationship to your voice
  • a singer, performer, or speaker seeking more freedom and authenticity
  • curious about the connection between breath, structure, and sound
  • drawn to somatic practices and embodied approaches to voice

No previous vocal training is required.

What matters most is curiosity, presence, and a willingness to explore the voice through the body.

The work & the rhythm

The work

The workshop focuses on the “channel of the voice” — the interconnected systems within the body that shape how we breathe, feel, and sound.

Through guided somatic work and vocal exploration, we will work with key areas of the body that influence vocal expression, including breath support, structural alignment, and areas of tension that may limit resonance and freedom.

The work integrates body awareness, breath, and sound to support a more connected, responsive, and expressive voice.

The rhythm of the workshop

Day 1 (Friday evening)
We begin by establishing awareness of breath and body, introducing the foundational principles of the voice as an embodied system.

Day 2
We explore key physical structures involved in voice — including diaphragm, pelvic floor, and ribcage — through guided somatic practices and vocal exploration.

Day 3
We integrate the work through longer vocal explorations and improvisation, allowing the voice to emerge with greater freedom, support, and range.

Facilitators

Julianna Bloodgood is a vocalist, performer, and facilitator working at the intersection of embodied voice, somatic practice, and artistic research. Her work explores voice as a relational, physical, and expressive force — emerging through the body, sensation, and presence rather than through technique alone.

Drawing from years of performance, ensemble work, and somatic inquiry, Julianna creates spaces where voice can unfold organically, in dialogue with movement, listening, and collective process. Her facilitation emphasizes trust, attunement, and the intelligence of the body as a primary source of creative knowledge.

Her work is rooted in the belief that the voice is not something we perform, but something we uncover.
